Hi, is it possible to view my X40, which is in the same network of my PC, as an audio device of my Win10 PC, without any loss of quality? I have a 1GB wired connection.
Thanks! bye
Luigi
What do you mean with Audio-Device? Do you want to play back files from your PC over Network on the CocktailAudio? Or do you just want to copy files from the device to PC or back?
No, in order to copy files from X40 to PC, I can do it cause X40 is mapped as a media server, and I can access it as a device. It shows me folders: Album, Artist, Title, etc...
I did not know that I can copy music directly into the database from my PC: I always did it via the web i/f (add to Music DB to a folder shown in browser mode)
Question is: can I play back files from my PC over the network at their original resolution? Can I map X40 as a network playback device, too?
Thanks, Luigi
Go on your CocktailAudio to Setup - Networkservices and set ther Samba to "ON"
After that open on your PC the Explorer (NOT Internetexplorer!!!).
After some time you should see the device under Network as Network resource. If you open the Cocktailaudio there, you can set on the Share "Local Storages" with right mouse button an direct permanent drive letter. I don't know the exact text for that. German translation is "Connect Networkdrive". There should be an dialog, where you can choose a drive letter. After this you always can access your cocktailaudio with an fixed drive letter!
Sorry, probably my question was not clear: I apologize.
Question is NOT how to map/view: I already have SAMBA enabled on my X40, I already can access the directories on the PC.
Question IS: can I play back files from my PC over my home network on the CocktailAudio X40? Can X40 be the network audio playback device of my PC?
Thanks, bye
Luigi
Open the Windows Mediaplayer. Select the file and press right mouse button. There should be some point like "play on device". There you could select your cocktailaudio.
See attached picture. On the device you have to have UPNP enabled
No way of straming via iTunes?
Danke!!
In Itunes you are able to play by Airplay to your cocktailaudio. That's another option.

Das funktioniert leider nicht. Das Gerät wird zwar als UPnP vom BS erkannt, trotzdem kann nichts abgespielt werden.
Hat das schon jemand geschafft?

Hi Jo,
I use Airplay service on my wired ethernet; in this way I can play on X40 also from my iTunes library, where I keep some AAC music.
FLAC and DSF music is stored on the X40 db.
This was exactly what I needed. Never tried WMP.
